Last Sunday, 1st October 2017, some of our Care staff and care workers from Thetford took part in the Memory Walk event at Worksop, Nottinghamshire in aid of Alzheimer’s Society.
What is Memory Walk?
Memory Walk is a sponsored walk organised by Alzheimer’s Society for all ages and abilities to unite together to raise money to defeat dementia. The walks are spread across the country and each walk will take on a different route through either a city, woodlands or a park.
Emily Robinson, Hales Recruiter, states:
“It was a really enjoyable day – not only did we get to spend a few hours outside the rush of the office but we laughed a lot throughout the morning walk.
Kira and Alice brought their children along as well and they were absolutely fantastic. They boosted morale, made up songs and chants as well as all taking a really positive interest in why the money was being raised and how it would be spent.
Although not far, I felt proud of everyone who took time out of their weekend and participated in such a lovely morning!”
Tania Lang, Hales Home Care Branch Manager, shares:
“Myself and my team completed a 7km walk in Norwich to raise funds to help towards Alzheimer’s. I have to say I have never been so proud of my team than I was on Saturday, watching them all proudly walking through the finish line and receiving their medals followed by a giant smile on all their faces.
The sense of achievement was overwhelming and knowing that the money that everyone has raised, will go to such an amazing charity and support the people that need it the most.
From the start to finish we were singing, chanting, smiling and laughing all the way round, the atmosphere was humbling and really encouraged everyone to keep going for such an amazing cause.”
